Presentation
This past Friday Pedro and I had the chance to present our project to a variety of folks from the Heinz community. Professors, students, and some who were just there to have some fun (queue the free drinks and appetizers). It gave us a chance to try out a few things given the feedback we had previously received. Additionally, it gave us an opportunity to see other presentations and see where folks were having problems with their own ventures. Because of this new ideas came about for our own project and some insight for recommendations as well.
The whole aura for the event was really to take a chance and improve on whatever idea you may have had. With one rule not to be too serious, which of course seemed quite odd at first glance but retrospect it gave us both the opportunity to relax and just have some fun. As the presentation commenced I began to notice that there were a few things that might be lacking in our own presentation, as well as certain things that we could do away with it. Yet the biggest thing I came to notice was there a few points in our presentation that were lacking some sort of clarity. What I mean was the idea was put out there but the definition and presentation need to be defined a lot better. In our head everything makes sense, but having a fresh set of eyes and ears to listen to our ideas was great.
Going with this weeks theme of really defining how to measure social impact of a venture is proven to be quite the task. We are aiming to have this be a for profit company, but really defining the aim of what kind of social impact we'd like the company to have is a daunting task. When we examine one of our original statements we state the potential market the venute may be able to break into. If we claim that by successfully launching our venture we will drive the economy of the country we have to really be specific and provide some cold hard facts. Any can make a claim yet we need to find different ways of making ours viable.
After leaving Hamburgh on Friday afternoon I left with more question and things to ponder upon. I view this as a good thing, there's still a lot of work to do but its defiantly exciting to see it all unfold. There's a only few weeks of class and I got new ideas to implement. I'm excited to see what lies ahead.
